Pacifica High School held its annual Fall Festival, a vibrant showcase of the entire visual and performing arts department, turning the campus into a center of creativity on Wednesday, October 29. This exciting evening served as a festive platform for Mariner performers to celebrate their hard work and share the artistry developed over the first few months of the school year. The event, welcoming family and friends, ultimately proved to be an amazing experience that deepens the roots of the Pacifica community.
The festival was split between indoor and outdoor venues, creating a flow of energy across the campus. The festivities began right at 4:45 p.m., with food trucks lined the quad. Friends and family gathered to enjoy delicious dinner and snacks, in preparation for the upcoming performances. The excitement ramped up at 5:30 p.m. with outdoor performances by the Marching Band and Color Guard where they shared a preview of their competitive field show.

At 6:30 p.m., the celebration moved inside to the Pacifica High School Auditorium, where the stage came alive with a rich tapestry of Halloween-themed performances and early-season showcases. The audience was treated to the impressive talents of the Concert Choirs, String Orchestra, Drama, Dance, Concert Band, and Jazz Band. These groups presented the culmination of weeks of dedication and rehearsal.
“Seeing all the different arts programs perform in one night is incredible,” said Madelynn Yu, a dancer on the Pacifica Varsity Dance Team. “It’s one thing to practice in the dance room, but performing for your family and the whole school community just makes everything purposeful. Being able to show my family all the hard work I have put into dance made all the late practices worth it.”
The unique collaborative spirit of the Fall Festival is what truly makes it a jewel of Pacifica. Students from every corner of the arts, from the Jazz Band to the String Orchestra, cheered each other on, fostering an environment of Mariner pride. Parents and teachers mingled throughout the evening, united by their admiration for the student performers. For Tommy Huynh from the Encore team, the shared stage time with all the various performing arts groups emphasized the true importance of the arts at Pacifica. “When we sing, and the Dance Team performs, and the band plays, we’re bringing diversity to the campus in the ways that you least expect it,” he explained. “I think the audience gets a real sense of how diverse and passionate our student body is.”
The energy in the auditorium was palpable, with a full house of friends and family filling their seats. The crowd’s immense enthusiasm, mixed with encouraging applause and genuine awe, was a clear reflection of the students’ immense dedication. Tommy Huynh emphasized the reciprocal nature of the event: “The whole journey, from our first rehearsal, teaches you discipline and teamwork, and it’s great that there is still so much we get to perform. I’m so grateful for DJ and the amazing program that we have here.”
Ultimately, from the heart-thumping precision of the marching band outdoors to the theatrical flair and beautiful harmonies of the indoor acts, the annual Fall Festival was a roaring success. It was more than just a performance; it was a vibrant expression of Pacifica’s dedication to its students’ creative endeavors and a valuable opportunity for community connection that can proudly carry forward for years to come.
