As the weather cools, leaves fall, and the scent of pumpkin spice fills the air, Pacifica students are setting in for the ultimate fall tradition: movie and TV show nights. Whether it’s curling up with a comfort show, braving a late-night horror flick, or uncovering a twist-filled drama, everyone has their own idea of a perfect autumn watch. To find out what’s capturing students’ attention this fall, the Pacifica Anchor spoke with several Pacifica High School students about their must-watch films and shows– uncovering a mix of timeless favorites, even fall rituals to go along with.
This fall, Pacifica students are turning to familiar favorites that capture both the cozy and mysterious sides of the season. “I like Coraline and the Boxtrolls– Boxtrolls is a kids movie but I love stop motion,” said Chelsea Kee, explaining that the animation style gives those films a distinct and eerie charm. Others like Kayla Fitzsimmons, leaned towards comfort shows with a hint of nostalgia. “Right now, I’m rewatching Vampire Diaries and Gilmore Girls, and those are my favorites usually,” she said. From whimsical stop motion to animation to small-town drama of cozy TV classics, students are finding fall inspiration in stories that blend warmth, mystique, and mood.
Beyond the screen, students also see their fall watchlists as part of a larger ritual in which it is a way to slow down and savor the season. Movie and show nights often mean lighting a candle, making popcorn, or wrapping up in a blanket. “I like to be in a good mood before. I’ll turn the fan on, I’ll take a shower, I’ll get a cup of tea, and then I will start watching,” said Ben Pham. Additionally, food is important when watching movies and shows. “I usually like to make a bunch of different foods. I want to do a Coraline themed watch and I want to make button cookies,” said Kayla. Together, these small rituals turn ordinary evenings into moments of warmth and comfort, making the fall season feel more special.
With popcorn in hand, blankets ready, and favorite movies and shows queued up, Pacifica students are fully embracing all that fall has to offer. After all, it’s the perfect season to watch, relax, and make a few cozy memories along the way.
