The bleachers are packed and the lights are blinding. At the homecoming game, it’s more than just a football game. It’s the kind of night where chants echo louder and the roar of the crowd grows even louder when the homecoming royalty is announced at halftime. It’s a night where school pride and excitement takes center stage, and memories are made when the royalty is finally crowned. The stadium buzzes with energy from students and parents, cheering on their football players and their homecoming royalty. There are two couples from each class: Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. They all have a 50% chance of winning royalty, but only one pair can be crowned.

During the halftime show at the game, the crowd erupted with cheers as the homecoming royalty nominees were announced under the front stadium lights. Students screamed when each of the nominees names were said, cheering on and celebrating their classmates. Among the nominees was senior Brody Crawford, who expressed his excitement in an interview after the ceremony: “I had no idea me and my girlfriend were going to be nominated. We just got called out of class and were told we were nominated. The whole week before the dance was very eventful and fun. We got posted on the Pacifica ASB instagram and got to be part of the homecoming assembly. We may not have won, but we had a lot of fun nonetheless.” The announcement of senior royalty always makes for extra energy being added to the already thrilling football game. As the royalties from each grade were given, their sashes and the senior royalty was crowned, then they sat down on the track to watch the halftime dances.

The homecoming football game itself was electric, students and parents cheering loudly and the school spirit was high. Our team played amazingly well, making good plays and working seamlessly together on the field. We won the game by a landslide, and everyone left the game feeling proud and excited. One of the best moments was a long touchdown run that had everyone cheering. It was definitely a homecoming game to remember. The cheerleaders and halftime class dances kept the energy high. Students participating in the halftime dance practiced for several weeks ahead of the game which made for a great performance. Some of the homecoming nominees were even part of the dances, and each class had their own theme: the Freshman were Dallas, the Sophomores were Las Vegas, the Juniors were Miami, and the Seniors were New York. All classes preformed exceptionally well and had the crowd cheering loud. After the game was over, our team walked by the other team showing great sportsmanship and high fiving. Overall, it was an amazing night to remember for all of the dancers, players, nominees, and even the students cheering in the stands.
