At Pacifica, fostering community doesn’t stop at the edge of campus but expands far beyond, into the very heart of Garden Grove. This effort to connect with other members of the community was on full display during a recent visit from Pacifica’s dance, cheer, and Encore teams to Enders Elementary School, where they attended the talent show on April 17th.
The talent show was more than just a fun trip, but a celebration of creativity and the work of gifted individuals. The Mariners showed up to support the young performers and ignite a passion for the arts in the next generations through their own performances. To show up to this event and cheer on these elementary schoolers, each Mariner acted as a role model and an inspiration.
From energetic dances to singing their hearts out, the Enders students put on a memorable show for the high schoolers and with the Pacifica students there to clap, cheer, and share in the excitement, the atmosphere was awe-inspiring. The Mariners were then able to return that enthusiasm when each team performed, demonstrating to the Enders students the possibilities of their futures.
One of the Encore students who went, Rory Parrott, shares his experience going on this trip: “There was dancing, stand-up comedy, rapping, singing, and a lot of different acts. Then, Encore, cheer, and dance performed for them. My favorite part was when these two kids got up there, the Gonzalez brothers, and they did a really funny comedy show. The whole time, we were standing up in the back screaming and dancing!”
From the dance team, Olivia Snider had a similar perspective on the event. She says, “All of the kids performed their talents for us which was so fun! My favorite acts were the dancers, singers, and stand up comedy. We all made sure to cheer the elementary students on by standing up after every act and constantly shouting for them, to show how good of a time we were having!”
Events like these highlight the unique bond between Pacifica and the broader community. They’re also a reminder that being a Mariner means more than just going to school; it means giving back, uplifting others, and helping shape a brighter future. So who knows? Maybe one of those shining stars at Enders will be Pacifica’s next dancer, cheerleader, or member of the Encore team. Thanks to this day, the legacy of the arts at Pacifica is alive, well, and growing!
