For years and years, The Anchor newspaper symbolized Mariner pride. It served as a beacon for student voices and a source of community spirit for Pacifica. It encouraged students to stay connected, informed, and engaged with campus life. Yet, in an anticlimactic turn of events, 2014 marked the quiet end of this newspaper and a piece of Pacifica’s memory was lost. Ask any current student on campus, “Do you know what The Anchor is?” and you’ll likely be met with a confused glance and a response along the lines of, “What’s that?”
Until now, that is. Under Mrs. House’s expert guidance and the PR Ambassadors’ dedicated efforts, these Mariners are proudly reviving The Anchor. With a staff of only four writers, their mission is clear: bring back The Anchor as a hub for student voices that celebrates the diverse happenings on campus. Though transferring to a digital format, they still remain committed to maintaining the spirit of the original Anchor, which is rooted in pride, creativity, and a strong desire to keep the Pacifica community connected. Their goal is not just to inform, but to inspire and highlight Mariners’ stories, opinions, and talents. The Anchor staff is committed to continuing the legacy of a publication that has a history of being much more than a newspaper, but a reflection of who Pacifica is as a school and a community.
We, the Pacifica Anchor Staff, welcome everybody to this incredible site and we can’t wait for this to become an avenue for student voices! ✍️
